An incredible mountaintop home built by a renowned architect that sleeps 10 and is a great choice for a large family, two families, a group of friends, or corporate group seeking to enjoy great skiing, colorful fall foliage, or a relaxing summer retreat in rural Vermont. A fusion of rustic charm and complete privacy, the house is 20 minutes from Mt. Snow, 17 minutes from Newfane’s town center, and 18 minutes to Wilmington. Witnessing the sunrises and sunsets from the porch will inspire and amaze!
Three floors contain five bedrooms and four bathrooms which provide plenty of space for 10 guests to stay comfortably. The exposed wooden beams, wood floors and tasteful decoration create a rustic and relaxing environment that soothes the soul. The wood and stone used in the construction was gathered from the property, and many of the bricks are reclaimed.
The fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom provide warmth and a lovely ambiance during the cold months. Wood can be found in the garage which keeps it dry and ready to burn. A small outdoor firepit is in the backyard, and wood can be found in the surrounding forest.
The kitchen has new appliances which will make cooking for your group a joy. The dining area features two tables and plenty of seating for your crew.
Every common room and bedroom feature large windows with spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys, and draws in plenty of natural light. There is a ping-pong table, board games, dartboard and several televisions for entertainment.
The Perfect Day
If you are here in summer, pick a golf course and head on down for a day of fun! Not a golfer? Chose a local farm for you and the family to spend the day sampling the best produce Vermont has to offer, or a cheese factory and discover something new. Want something a bit more active? Put on those hiking boots and experience the nature Vermont has to offer. You can also grab a fishing pole and test your skills as an angler on the best lakes and rivers that Vermont has to offer.
If you are here in winter, jump in the car and head to Mt. Snow and get ready to shred some powder. Or spend the day in, create a toasty fire in the fireplace and curl up with a good book and beverage, or set up a gaming tournament, with pride on the line of course!
For the leaf chasers in fall, the property will offer incredible the incredible views and smells of autumn that Vermont vacationers have come to expect. Spend the day in the forest grabbing downed limbs and sticks for the firepit, allowing the Vermont nature to melt away your stress.
After a day of fun, you and your group can try any number of great restaurants, or you can take home your produce from the farm and cook up an incredible meal. Put a sport or movie on the TV and open a bottle of local wine, or pass out a round of a delicious brew you found at a local brewery. If it is warm enough, start a fire in the outdoor firepit and have a lovely conversation around the glow and smell of the fire.
If you are a writer or painter, a nice walk around the property is in order to get the ideas flowing. Let the sights, sounds and smells of nature free your mind as you find that perfect word, or perfect technique, for your next masterpiece.
The home is in the beautiful Vermont rural town of Newfane, yet is only 20 minutes away from Mt. Snow, a great ski resort where any skill level can have a great time. The home is also close to several other great gems that are only available in Vermont.
Local farms are one such place to visit. These farmers take great care to offer fresh, delicious, organic produce, baked goods, and meats. The animals are well treated and cared for; livestock welfare is important to Vermont farming. The eggs are another incredible treat, try an omelet made from the most golden yellow yolks you will ever see! Many places also offer berry picking when in season (late May/early June to October).
The property is 20 minutes from Grafton Village that offers cross-country skiing and tubing. For kids, Adams Family Farm, 20 minutes away, would offer feeding farm animals, goat milking, sleigh rides, and yarn spinning. Several golf clubs are minutes away, as are wineries and breweries to tour, lakes for fishing, rivers for trout and rafting, and a glass blowing studio. Each season has festivals and fairs that is fun for the whole family.
The historic town of Manchester is also a one hour drive away. There you can enjoy many fine restaurants, bars, and several places for activities.
