An incredibly charming farmhouse on a 100-acre estate that sleeps 20 and is perfect for a family reunion, large group of friends, several families who wish to vacation together, a corporate retreat. This estate is also an ideal location to host a wedding. Each room is unique and tastefully decorated, the home has wood floors and plenty of space, and was recently renovated. The location is also ideal, very close to the center of Manchester and the horse shows, 11 minutes to Bromley, and 25 minutes to Stratton, meaning your skiers won’t spend their entire vacation in the car! Perfect for ski trips in winter, a relaxing vacation in spring and summer, or a great place to view the foliage in autumn.
This spacious home has ten bedrooms and five bathrooms spread across three floors. The house has two kitchens, perfect for hosting large groups or entertaining wedding guests. For those with children, the delightful quirks of the house will keep them busy exploring for a long time!
Decorated with period furniture, this home has a lot character with old New England charm, but was recently renovated to ensure it also has modern comforts as well. The style and space are perfect for weddings, of which the house has successfully hosted several.
The house has two parts, each has a kitchen and both were recently renovated. A deck rings the house at ground level, has great views, and is great for reading, relaxing or talking with friends. There is a stone patio and outdoor chairs as well, and there is a firepit which is great any time of the year. A very large field is next to the house and is a great location to host an outdoor wedding.
There are TVs and Wi-Fi, books, games and movies, everyone of all ages can find something to keep them entertained while at the house. There is also a piano for the musician in the family, or for a professional to play on during a wedding reception. There is a large family room and a fireplace, perfect for warming up after a day on the slopes!
The Perfect Day
After a fun day of skiing, exploring, and adventure, cook up a feast for the family using one or both of the kitchens and with the fresh ingredients you were able to purchase at a local farm. Or let someone else do the cooking and find a restaurant in Manchester, it is only 5 minutes away after all! Then have an after-dinner drink at one of the bars, or come home and serve a round while a fire burns in the fireplace, or outdoor fire pit. You can also pull out one of the many board games and have a gaming night, with bragging rights on the line!
The next morning, wake up with a hot cup of coffee and make sure to take in the great views. There is a great vista of the valley and surrounding mountains, if you stay while it snows, you can watch the clouds move in and hear the snow approaching, it is an amazing experience.
One of the best features of the house is its location to the best that Vermont has to offer, which means your large group of friends or family can split up and do the activities they want to do during the day before regathering for a large dinner. Those who are active can head into Manchester and learn how to drive off-road, or they can golf, or there are plenty of lakes and rivers to fish, boat, raft or tube. For those who like shopping, Manchester offers a lot of quaint galleries and shops, and there is a discount outlet that offers incredible prices on great clothes and accessories, as well as great dining.
Manchester is one of Vermont’s “little big towns,” that is, it has all the charm of a small mountain village, but the amenities and features of a city. There are bars, restaurants, a grocery store, places to shop, and more. Also in the area are wineries and breweries to tour, and farms where you can buy the freshest produce, eggs, meats, and baked goods. If you like supporting local artists, there are art galleries and shops, a perfect place to pick up that next knick-knack for your home, and as a memento of your great vacation.
The house is also close to several ski mountains, Bromley, Magic Mountain and Stratton Resort are all a reasonable drive away, providing plenty of slopes for skiers of all skill levels. You can also learn how to drive off road with the Land Rover Experience Driving school, you can sharpen up your angler and shooting skills at the Orvis school.
For those looking for a place to stay for the Dorsett Horse Show in July and August, the house is five miles away! There is also plenty of space to park a trailer so you can have easy and convenient access to everything you need for the shows.
For spring, summer, and fall guests who like to golf, there are two courses nearby, The Equinox Golf Resort and Ekwanok Country Club, which also feature fine restaurants. For fishers, there are several lakes and rivers which are stocked with trout and have a selection of local fish to catch as well (bass, pike, and perch).
Discover President Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace at The Lincoln Family Home, or visit one of the museums. Berry picking season is also popular, which runs from June to October, and there are blueberry festivals in late July and early August.
