About the property

Off a quiet road, down a driveway that cuts through the majestic forest, is this lovely 27-acre property in Jamaica, Vermont. Just minutes from Stratton Mountain and the charming village of Jamaica, but also a perfect place to step away from the world for a while, enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Vermont’s natural beauty, and decompress in the hot tub.

Tastefully decorated, peaceful, this almost 4,000 square foot home has four bedrooms and sleeps eight adults, plus a few kids. Internet is great, fast enough for video chats for those who have to work, and fast enough for streaming.

The Space:

The home is surrounded on all sides by woods, with only one neighbor that you can barely see through the trees in winter.

There are four bedrooms. The master suite is huge, with a steam shower and a nine-nozzle shower, a private entertainment room, a flat screen TV, and a private Keurig and refrigerator. The other three bedrooms have huge windows that look out over the woods, with one bedroom a hybrid/office bedroom that can be converted into an office.

The kitchen, dining room and family room are all connected in an open-floor design. The kitchen is huge, well stocked with everything your chef will need. Two dishwashers, two ovens, drip and Keurig coffee machines, main refrigerator, and a beverage refrigerator.

The dining room seats 8 comfortably, and the entertainment room has a smart TV, with all of the channels and streaming and sits over a gas fireplace.

Outside is a nice sized yard, a gas BBQ, and a firepit. The brand-new hot tub is open year round and is professionally maintained before every stay!

The Perfect Day:

Wake up with a hot cup of tea or coffee and step out to the back yard, with the crisp, cool air filling your lungs and the gorgeous view of the Vermont forest in each direction as your backdrop. You may be out there for a while!

Then, after breakfast or brunch, it is time to grab your ski or snowboard gear to hit the slopes! With three ski resorts all a short drive, there is a mountain with a skill level for all groups.

For spring, summer and fall guests, there are fairs, horse shows, trails, places to fish and hike, and much more—everyone in your group will be able to find something fun to do! You can also visit any one of a number of farm stands that dot the main roads to and from the house to purchase the freshest, organic produce, meats, and cheeses that Vermont is famous for.

After a day of fun, you can grab a bite to eat in town down the mountainside, or you can head to nearby Stratton, Manchester or Londonderry for some drinks, shopping, and nightlife! Or you can have a more relaxing evening at the house, with a crackling fire providing a lovely ambiance, and spend some time in the steam shower and hot tub to rejuvenate those muscles you exercised during the day, while the sun sets as the perfect backdrop.

Then it is time for bed to rest up for another day of Vermont fun!

The Neighborhood:

The home has complete privacy, away from the hustle and bustle of a ski resort. AWD and 4WD are highly recommended during the snow season.

Down the road from the house are the valley towns of Jamaica, Bondville, Rawsonville and Winhall, where you can find small convenience stores to stock up on a few items, some bars and restaurants for a bit of nightlife, and small shops.

For ski and snowboarding, Stratton is a huge mountain and is about 8 minutes away. For beginner skiers or those who like to take it easy on the slopes, Bromley is perfect for you. If you are a ski enthusiast, Magic Mountain, all the way.

If you are looking for the pinnacle Vermont social experience, head west on Route 30 which will bring you to Manchester Center, an amazing small Vermont city that has something for everyone. There is plenty of shopping. There are outdoor stores which offer classes and experiences from learning how to fly fish to learning how to shoot like Winston Churchill to how to drive off-road. There is the Equinox Spa, which is renowned and highly rated for those who want luxurious pampering. There is the Dorset Horse Show.

For golfers, Stratton and Magic Mountain both have courses. Manchester has a private golf club.

Hikers should explore Stratton, especially those looking for a good workout. Anglers have several ponds, lakes, and rivers to choose from.  The best thing to do is when you purchase your license (everyone over aged 15 is required to have one) is grab the free Vermont fishing magazine, which has more information than you could ever need, as well as the rules and regulations.

Looking forward to hosting you!
